Occasionally we get an assortment of wildlife around the chicken feeder.
Recently we spotted a wallaby out of the kitchen window with our Brahma chicken looking on.
After the initial ‘sussing out’ they began eating side by side. Although now we’re at a loss as to how to keep other animals from learning how to use the feeder. The brush turkey’s worked it out too!
This morning we had the task of feeding our neighbour’s goats, kittens and baby wallaby.
The goats knew the routine but it was still a challenge to keep one rather large milking female out of her fellow goats’ feeding bowls. The little ones are just too cute. Like little puppies.
This little joey still feeds with milk from the bottle. I was amazed at how she sucked the whole bottle down without a breath and continued to suck after all the milk was gone. Even after the bottle was put away I had a little furry shadow follow me everywhere I went. If I stood still for long enough I would find two little paws clasping onto my hand. Needless to say I fell in love with this little joey and gave her lots of chest scratches which only encouraged her to follow me around and clasp my hand. It was win win. 🙂
