Pawpaw

Well, it’s pawpaw season again.  Our pawpaw trees are just pregnant with fruit.  We get a pawpaw harvest twice a year.

I have to be honest here and say that pawpaw has never been my favourite fruit but there’s something about eating fresh pawpaw straight off the tree.  Not quite like what you get in the shop.  Probably because by the time you buy them at the supermarket they are already a week old.  And probably haven’t ripened on the tree.

They are a little more like mangoes (ours are, anyway) than the shop-bought variety.

This is my favourite pawpaw tree. One of many which line our driveway.
